What does the EPA 4.0 pCi/L level mean?

The EPA recommends fixing a home when radon is at or above 4.0 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). Some people choose to mitigate at lower levels too. If you already have a test from someone else, bring it to your free on-site survey and we can talk about next steps.

How does radon mitigation work?

Most homes use a sealed suction point under the foundation or crawl space, a quiet fan, and a pipe that vents outdoors above the roof. Sealing big openings helps the system work well. The exact layout depends on your house, so we start with a free on-site survey.

Is mitigation different for a crawl space and a slab?

Yes. Slab homes usually pull from under the concrete. Crawl space homes may use a sealed liner with suction underneath. Basement homes often need under-slab suction and careful pipe routing. Foundation type is one of the first things we check on the survey.

Do you test for radon?

Mitigation is our main work. After we install a system, we can test to confirm it is working. If you already have a test from someone else, bring it to your free on-site survey.

Is the on-site survey really free?

Yes. The on-site survey is always free. We do not list quotes on the website. You get a detailed quote after we see the house.

Why can’t you quote over the phone?

Every house is laid out differently. A detailed quote has to account for the plumbing pipes, the bathtub plumbing trap, holes in the slab, and which perimeter cracks we can seal with polyurethane caulk — and which ones we cannot.

We like to put the fan in the attic when we can, but that is not always possible. That is why we do a free on-site survey first, then a detailed quote.

What credentials do you hold?

We hold NRPP measurement credential #115838-RMP, valid through June 30, 2028. We are an AARST member. Mitigation NRPP is pending.

What does an ERV have to do with radon?

An ERV moves fresh air in and stale air out at the same time, and it transfers heat between those two streams so you are not throwing away all the heating or cooling. It can be set so a little more air comes in than goes out. That slight positive pressure encourages indoor air to leave through foundation cracks instead of letting soil gas — radon — sneak in.

An ERV is not a substitute for a mitigation system under the house. We install one when it belongs in the plan after a free on-site survey, then a detailed quote.

Yes. We offer a company 10-year warranty on qualifying radon mitigation work. We go over the details after the free on-site survey when we propose a system.
